IEMA Approved Practical Carbon Footprinting 1 Day Workshop

How big is your company's carbon footprint? Is it growing or shrinking?

Many environmentally aware businesses set targets for controlling their greenhouse gas emissions. But whether you're looking to reduce your emissions by 5%, 50% or even thinking about going carbon-neutral, you will need a baseline against which to measure progress. For many businesses, this first step is the hardest part.

In our 1 Day Practical Carbon Footprinting Workshop, we'll show you how to quantify greenhouse gas emissions for the key components of your business. We will use our knowledge of energy management and climate science, to walk you through the assessment process by translating this procedure into easily understandable steps. We all provide you with a methodology that will enable you to conduct this exercise for your own business.

We don't just tell you how to use an online calculator to determine your total amount of CO2 for your business, but instead we will show you how to assess each operation and account for specific greenhouse gas contributions. Once compiled this information will allow you to prioritise your internal emissions reduction strategy whilst gaining the additional benefit of highlighting where you can minimise your costs.

We will help you differentiate the green house gas emissions that you can control, think that you control, only influence, or have no control over at all. Our interactive session will take you through a case study to help you understand how to take those first steps to greener and more efficient business.

We will conclude by showing you what you can do to reduce your emissions and how to use your footprint to direct you to where the greatest savings can be made.

Carbon Trading and Offsetting - 1 Day Workshop

This one day workshop covers the statutory framework and arrangements for the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the UK Carbon Reduction Commitment and identifies how allowances are created, allocated and traded. The workshop will highlight how to collate emissions date for submission under each of the schemes and how this can be used to generate potential revenue by trading in the financial market place.

Interactive exercises allow delegates to fully understand and apply the schemes within a business context. Delegates will be able to identify business opportunity within the carbon market and how they can use this to formulate organisational policy and direction to reflect carbon opportunity.

An overview of carbon offsetting will provide an indication of how business can achieve carbon neutrality beyond measures aimed at reducing consumption and use of alternative technology.

Sustainability for Managers 1 Day Workshop

Are you implementing environmental management controls and struggling to get the sustainability message out to staff across your organisation? One area that may improve your success is training. It is possible for top down commitment to be achieved through a simple education and awareness programme. Historically, organisations of varying scale have all too often invested heavily in new systems, procedures, processes and occasionally hardware but skimped on training. Attitudes are changing but sometimes aspects of our businesses are taken for granted with sustainability and environmental practices being no exception.

This one day workshop is designed to overcome those initial barriers to environmental success by building knowledge and confidence within managers, sustainability champions and staff at all levels. The interactive workshop allows delegates to explore what sustainability means for them and their organisation.
